Heisa is one of the remaining islands of Nubia, it’s still populated with natives who refuse to leave.
They have grown a great sentimental connection to the land and the river that goes far beyond a mere visitor’s notice.
Frequent visits to the island ought to let this to reveal itself.
The roughness of the environment, the hot weather and the inevitable isolation are all put at ease by the end of each day with a dip in the shivering cold water and a walk by the river.
A work in progress.
